Here he is, nearly finished and almost unrecognisable from the original design!
The only part I have saved is the face.
I kept looking at my 'first' leopard and feeling that it was so similar to many other pictures of leopards I have seen in magazines etc. that I really ought to design something which was a bit different.
I completed the leopard and the rock he's sitting on but couldn't decide what sort of background
would be appropriate. Fabric after fabric was 'offered up' behind him, but nothing was right.
It took a friend to mention that he'd look good on a dark background to give me the inspiration I needed.
I happened to have some dark green batik intended, at some point, to be used for tree trunks and I found
that if I turned it 90o it became water!
This went nicely with the rock so I added more rocks and here he is sitting on the edge of a river, like leopards do!
I’m much happier with him now and it just goes to show how things evolve from an initial idea.
Now all that's needed is a bit more work on the background and, of course, a title.
